Our newest girl.........Jenny

Foster mom...........Jenny is the most beautiful dog I have ever seen, she is sweet,
loves to cuddle, and is very loyal to her owner.
She is about six months old and was found wandering stray.
When she came to me she was completely untrained and has proven to be a quick learner.
She loves other dogs but needs to be watched because she doesn't know her own strength.
Jenny loves to play at the beach, collecting shells from the shore line, chasing sticks, swimming,
and digging for clams. Jenny needs an experienced owner that is willing to put in the time to train her.

Abby

Abby is a boxer cross about 6 months old.

Foster: Abby is a fearless puppy, she is outgoing and social and would do well in an active home with another active dog. She knows sit, down, and is learning to leave it, come, and to walk on the leash nicely. Her problem is that she just loves everyone and will drag you to any person or dog because she wants to visit . She is great in the car too. Her crate training is coming along,  She is house training . Alone in the house is typical, she is a puppy and will clean up your dishes, garbage and give you an excuse to buy new shoes if you leave them out.   There is not one thing we don't like about her. She is a great dog.)If you are the family for Abby

Jazz

Info on Jazz

Jazz is a fantastic pup.  She is very energenic and needs alot of play time.
She loves to play with the other dogs and with us.
Her favorite place is on the couch.  Preferably on your lap.
She just loves car rides and will jump in when you open the door without any encouragement.
She willingly goes into her crate even when it isn't nap time.
She will often go in there on her own when she has had enough play time.
She sleeps well at night as long as you don't cover her crate and you leave a small light on.
She will let you know if she needs to pee in the middle of the night but settles right back down to sleep once she comes back in.

If your interested in Jazz ,please fill out our adoption form.

Cypress

Breed: American Pit Bull

Age: 2 Years Old

Sex: Spayed Female

Cats: unknown

Dogs: unknown

Cypress was surrendered as her owner did not have time for her.

UPDATE:(When she was at the Victoria SPCA)
Cypress is an absolute doll, and charming the shelter workers at the Victoria SPCA. She is a black brindle and white pit bull, about 2 years old. She is so attentive to whoever gives her guidance, and just wants to play, pla
y, play. She does well so far with other dogs, and when she gets to be too "bully" she responds instantly to a verbal correction, as she has a high desire to please. A shelter worker said "Every time she did something I didn't like, I just had to say be nice or leave it and she would correct herself and look over at me for praise."

Cypress is not a dog for the first time pittie owner but is extremely trainable. She does not like her kennel and barks a lot in it. She does suffer from separation anxiety but with a stable home and consistent routine, she would likely adjust just fine. She is a very good jumper and will try to jump a 6 foot fence, so she should be under supervision outside at all times. Her athleticism would make her a great running or workout partner for a conditioned fitness buff! She also enjoys her toys and her favourite is playing rope tug, which she gets very vocal about but will drop it when asked.

If you're looking for a fun, affectionate companion to get outdoors and work out with, please consider Cypress.

Cypress recently participated in a training class at the shelter.  She is not very food motivated right now, but by the end of the class she knew how to sit.

Bomber

*Our Movie Star*

Bulldog Waggin Tail

VOLUNTEER'S COMMENT: "Bomber" is one sweet dear fellow! This dog has loads of character. He is well behaved and very loving. I took Boomer for a walk with another dog and he was so good. Even though he doesn't like un-neutered male dogs, on our walk he met a couple of dogs and did not pull towards them or show any signs of aggression. He trotted on minding his own business. He is fabulous to walk on leash, and infact I walked him with one hand and there was no pulling at all. He is attentive and listens well. He sits nicely and takes his treats very gently. Boomer is showing signs of losing his spirit, he has been at the pound now for 2 months and he has been sadly overlooked. Please come and visit this friendly fellow, and spend a little time with him, he'd love a visit and you won't be disappointed. P.S. To be respectful of Boomer, off-leash dog parks are probably not the best place to walk this fella, he would be better suited to a on-leash walk, hike or a run with his human buddy.

Bomber really needs a home to calls his own!!!! Bomber is special he needs a home that understands. We have tested and tested Bomber and meds after meds .We still don't know what is happening with this poor boy. After he got neutered he started to drip pee every were he went and some times even just standing there and peeing unknown to him.We need a foster home or home that understands he my not get better and is welling to deal with his peeing on a daily basis. If you are that family that wants to help with Bomber please contact us my email or fill out a adoption form on our website. .Bomber is approx. 6 years old and is a bulldog/staffie mix. He's a good boy that needs someone that has time to continue training. he's very good with commands like sit,lie down, shake a paw. Before adoption, an application and home check is required

Bullies need lots of attention and care.

Are you willing to let your dog inside with

your family? A bully that lives with a

family is a very happy dog. A bully left alone out side in the back yard can be

depressed or destructive. Bullies are excellent companions with the right care,

socialization, and training.Be ready to handle the discriminations from ignorant and unknowing people.

who may assume the worst about you when they see you own a bully.Don’t get a bully because you want to

have that image or cool look. If that’s your main reason .

Can you afford vet bill when you dog needs vaccinations updates? Will you

have money when your dog gets sick? Are you able to buy food, toys etc.

A bully has a lot of energy. If they don’t get the proper exercise they can get fat.

So if you don’t plan on exercising your dog. A bully is the wrong  dog for you.

"Pit bull" is not a breed. It's a generic term often used to describe several

breeds of dogs with similar traits and characteristics.

Pit bull-type dogs are a little more of everything a dog can be.

*Who We Are*

It all started 18 years ago with a jet black girl (Britta). We spent 14 1/2 years

hearing all these bad things about the breed! Quotes like, How can you have

your children around a vicious killer! Aren't you afraid for your life?

You know when they get old, they go Crazy, how about a 7 year old girl

at school, when we are picking up our kids, she say's to my kid,I can't come

over to your house because you have a pit bull .So our goal is to teach

people and the breed to be Respectabull! Do your home work and

you will see the true dog behind the media!

                                     *Adopting a friend*

Puppies :$200.00 Adult dogs:$150.00 First you will have to fill out a adoption form

to see if you meet requirement! We do home check, follow up checks .we require you

to research the breed to make shore they are for you and you for them. Do you know

what BSL means in your town or city? No dog will leave our care until its spayed/neutered

                  *Poems*

This is a poem that we like This was posted on another board. It was written by a woman named Angie who works in a shelter here in Ontario. Very sad poem, but very powerful.

I killed Another Pit Bull Today

I killed Another Pit Bull Today Another day, another damn dollar I shake my head, and hand back the collar. I killed another pit bull today What do you people want me to say? Believe I heard this story before Starts with cute little puppy, say no more, Then that puppy grew up quick This story is starting to make me sick. It?s easy for you to walk through my door But my head hurts and my heart is sore So I killed another Pit Bull today People, I don?t know what to say Dogs at large and people don?t care, Back yard breeders, responsible owner is rare Did not know if my dog should see a vet Not spayed or vaccinated either I bet My shelter door is a revolving one Everyday when I think I am done Another Pit Bull Dies that day Please don?t ask, I don?t know what to say In the truck just driving around Barking dogs is a pleasant sound Pit Bull no muzzle, Breed ban in This dog will die, what a Sin. You call me a killer, a murderer right You? Are the irresponsible owner in my sight So I killed another Pit bull today And through my tears, I can not say I got this job so I could care For the unwanted animals, how is this fair? Irresponsible owner makes me clean up their mess My emotions are drained and I need some rest My future is not looking too bright Tomorrow things might look better in different light But for now I will kill another Pit bull today But you did this; not me is all I can say.

                                    *The Pit Bull*

You think she's mean and angry. But she's really kind and keen.

She looks very tuff,  But she's really full of fluff.

She eats a lot of treats. But she's really kind of neat.

She is a big dog, But she's really not a hog.

She takes up your bed, And that's all i should have said.
